How it works

  1. Call or send a request. Tell us who needs care, what a typical day looks like and when you'd like to start.
  2. Talk it through. A care coordinator calls you, asks about routines, health conditions and preferences, and visits the home if that helps.
  3. Get a care plan and the rate. You see the schedule, the tasks and the hourly rate in writing before anything begins.
  4. Meet the caregiver. A screened caregiver is matched to your family. If it isn't the right fit, say so and the match changes.

Caring for aging parents in Tampa Bay

Retirees who moved here decades ago, adult children who live out of state, and a hurricane season that complicates everything.

Family far away

Many Tampa seniors moved here from the Northeast or Midwest, and their children still live there. Companion care gives a long-distance family regular eyes on a parent and someone to call when something changes.

Companion care

Heat and hydration

Tampa summers are hard on older adults who don't feel thirst the way they used to. A caregiver who keeps water nearby and the house cool during the afternoon is a real safety measure.

Personal care

Hurricane season

Evacuation decisions, shelter registration for people with special needs and storm prep are easier with a caregiver who knows the routine. Care continues around storms with a plan set before June.

Hourly care

Discharges from big hospitals

Tampa General, AdventHealth, BayCare and HCA hospitals discharge patients with instructions families have no time to absorb. Hospital-to-home care covers the first days when readmissions happen.

Common questions

How fast can care start?

For a hospital discharge or an urgent respite need, care can often start within a day or two. For a scheduled start, a coordinator sets a visit first so the match is right.

Is this medical care?

No. This is non-medical in-home care: companionship, help with daily activities, meals, errands, supervision and respite. If someone needs nursing or therapy at home, a coordinator can point you to the right kind of provider.

Are caregivers screened?

Yes. Florida requires Level 2 background screening for home care workers, and caregivers are also reference-checked and trained before they're placed.

What areas do you serve?

Tampa and the surrounding communities in Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas counties. See the full service area list.

Does Medicare pay for this?

Original Medicare generally does not cover non-medical in-home care. Long-term care insurance, some Medicare Advantage plans, VA benefits and Florida Medicaid waiver programs sometimes do. A coordinator can help you figure out what applies.

Talk to a care coordinator

If a discharge is days away or a caregiver is burned out, call. For a scheduled start or a question, the form works just as well.
